Registration Opens For FIFA Girls’ Football Festival 2016
SINGAPORE, 26 SEPTEMBER 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that the FIFA Girls’ Football Festival is back for the third year running, following the success of the last two editions. The event will take place on Thursday, 10 November 2016 from 8am to 4pm at Serangoon Stadium.
The increasingly popular all-girls football festival saw over 300 girls participating in the event in 2015, and is looking to expand its outreach further this year by encouraging more girls to discover the joy of football through engaging activities.
The girls can put their best foot forward and engage in some friendly competition during the event highlights which include 5-a-side matches for the Under-8 and Under-10 categories, and 8-a-side matches for Under-12s.
Participants can also expect a full day of fun-filled small-sided games, fringe activities, and football clinics that focus on teaching proper football tackling techniques, as well as other football and life skills.
Ms Julie Teo, General Manager of Grassroots and Women’s Football, said: “The first two editions of the FIFA Girls’ Football Festival were very well-received, and we are confident that this year’s edition will be no different. This is part of our ongoing efforts to promote an active lifestyle through football, and we aim to stoke an interest in our young girls to discover the love for the beautiful game through the activities we have organised for this festival.”
The 3rd FIFA Girls’ Football Festival 2016 is open to all girls below the age of 12. Interested individuals and teams who wish to participate are invited to write in to [email protected] before 10 October 2016 to register for the event. Registration is free.
