Revamped NFL To Kick Off Next Month
SINGAPORE, 15 MARCH 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that the revamped National Football League (NFL) will kick off on Sunday 3 April. As part of the FAS’ ongoing plans to strengthen domestic football at all levels, the NFL is now a single-division competition with 10 teams. This will streamline the competition to sharpen the focus on quality of football, fitness and player development.
Both finalists of the Island Wide League (IWL) will be promoted next year to make the NFL a 12-team league. In addition, the two teams that finish at the bottom of this year’s NFL will take part in play-offs against the IWL losing semi-finalists to determine the final two spots in next year’s NFL.
All 10 teams will begin their 2016 NFL season on 3 April at 7pm. Please see attachment for the full list of fixtures.
