SINGAPORE, 7th November 2014: The exciting 2014 RHB Singapore Cup Final at Jalan Besar Stadium earlier this evening between Balestier Khalsa FC and Home United FC ended 3-1,  with Balestier Khalsa winning the prestigious cup tournament for the first time.

The win provided much needed respite for Balestier Khalsa in a roller-coaster season that saw them starting strongly at the beginning of the season but eventually ended up in 6th position. This is Balestier’s first ever RHB Singapore Cup triumph in the Cup’s 14-year history.

Gracing the occasion at the Final was Guest-of-Honour President Tony Tan Keng Yam and he was accompanied by FAS President Zainudin Nordin and Dato’ Khairussaleh Ramli, Deputy Group Managing Director, RHB Banking Group. The guests and fans were first treated to an exuberant cheerleading performance by cheerleaders from Albirex Niigata FC (S), followed by a special appearance of popular local musical duo Jack and Rai. Performances by the S.League mascots, and also the ITE College West Percussion Band provided additional delights to the 6,157 strong crowd as they waited for the two teams to take the centre stage. What followed was a tightly contested match of top quality befitting of a cup final as both Balestier Khalsa FC and Home United FC put each other to the sword, but there had to be one winner as Balester Khalsa eventually prevailed.

There were also lucky draws throughout the evening featuring prizes worth more than S$15,000 from iPhone 6s, iPad minis, laptop and cameras, as well as 5 AFF Suzuki Cup ticket packages to Singapore’s three home matches at the National Stadium.

S.League CEO, Mr Lim Chin concurred: “Congratulations to both teams for a splendid display of football tonight and to Balestier Khalsa for winning the 2014 RHB Singapore Cup. On behalf of the S.League, I would like to thank our sponsors RHB Bank, for their staunch support for Singapore football and S.League and I would like to thank the fans as well for making the 2014 RHB Singapore Cup a very successful tournament. We would like to congratulate all the winners, players and fans alike, and we look forward to their continued support in the next season.”
