Singapore drawn alongside Thailand, Vietnam in SEA Games 2019

SINGAPORE, 15 OCTOBER 2019 – Singapore has been drawn in Group B for the 30th Southeast Asian Games 2019 which will take place from 30 November to 11 December 2019.

 

The Lions will face defending champions Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and Brunei in the group stage of the men’s football tournament.

 

The draw ceremony took place at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila today.

 

Commenting on the results of the draw, Under-22 National Team Head Coach Fandi Ahmad said: “We have a tough group for the SEA Games. Thailand and Vietnam have both qualified for the AFC Under-23 Championship next year. This will be a good motivation for us, playing against the best teams in ASEAN and we will be mentally and physically prepared for this tough fight ahead.”

Group A features hosts Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor-Leste.

 

Teams which finish first and second in their respective groups will advance to the semi-finals for a chance at winning gold.
