Singapore drawn into Group A for AFF Women’s Championship

SINGAPORE, 28 MAY 2022 –
The Singapore Women’s National Team will face Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and invited nation Australia in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship 2022 this July. 

 

The draw was finalised earlier today, with the Lionesses drawn into Group A. The 12th edition of the tournament was originally planned for 2020 but then postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. All matches will be played in Manila, the Philippines from 1 to 14 July 2022. 

 

Singapore will be making their ninth appearance at the regional tournament. The Lionesses’ last victory came in the first edition back in October 2004, when midfielder Lim Shiya scored at the 74th minute to pip Indonesia 1-0. 

 

A total of 11 participating Member Associations will compete, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the knockout stage.
