Singapore to face Japan, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei in StayAndPlay Asian Series 2020
SINGAPORE, 21 APRIL 2020 – Due to unforeseen circumstances, FIFA has decided to postpone the FIFA eNations StayAndPlay Cup that was scheduled to kick off tonight and have communicated this decision to the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and other affected federations earlier today.
As a result, the duo of Joel Chew, Tampines Rovers midfielder and Amraan Gani, Team Flash professional eSports player, will not face Australia tonight and New Zealand tomorrow as originally intended.
Instead, as part of our efforts not to disappoint fans, the FAS has quickly banded together with the federations of Japan, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei to play a friendly quadrangular tournament on this platform that will be called the StayAndPlay Asian Series 2020. The games will be streamed “live” on the Football Association of Singapore’s Facebook page, which can be accessed HERE.
Premier League winner and Japan’s all-time top scorer Shinji Okazaki will be involved, as will Malaysia and Johor Darul Ta’zim star Safawi Rasid. Chinese Taipei’s player representative will be Lin Benson.
The four teams will play once against each other in a single round-robin format over tonight, tomorrow and Friday to crown the winner. Each match will be played twice: once between the eSports players and the other between the player representatives from each of the opposing countries.
