Singapore drawn in Group E for AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023™ Qualifiers

SINGAPORE, 24 MAY 2022 – The Singapore Men’s Under-16 National Team will face Yemen, Bangladesh and Bhutan in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023™ Qualifiers this October.

 

The draw was finalised earlier today at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, where Singapore was drawn into Group E for the tournament. Bangladesh will serve as hosts for the Qualifiers, which will take place from 5 to 9 October 2022. Players born on or after 1 January 2006 are eligible to compete in the tournament.

 

Singapore will take on Bangladesh on 5 October, Yemen on 7 October and Bhutan on 9 October. All the matches will be played at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka.

 

 

Singapore will aim to be at the Finals for the third time, having hosted it in 2006 and qualified for it in 2008. This will be the 20th edition of the AFC U17 Asian Cup, which will be held as a U17 tournament for the first time after it was rebranded from the AFC U16 Championship.

 

A total of 44 participating Member Associations (MAs) were divided into 10 centralised qualifying groups, six of which will feature four teams, while four groups will include five sides. The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will join Bahrain in the Finals.
