Singapore drawn in Group I for AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023™ Qualifiers
SINGAPORE, 24 MAY 2022 – The Singapore Men’s Under-19 National Team will face Tajikistan, Cambodia and Lebanon in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023™ Qualifiers this September.
The draw was finalised earlier today at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, where Singapore was drawn into Group I for the tournament. Tajikistan will serve as hosts for the Qualifiers, which will take place from 14 to 18 September 2022.
Singapore will take on Tajikistan on 14 September, Cambodia on 16 September and Lebanon on 18 September. All the matches will be played at the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe.
Singapore will aim to be at the Finals for the first time since the qualification stage was introduced in 1980. This will be the 41st edition of the AFC U20 Asian Cup, which will be held as a U20 tournament for the first time after it was rebranded from the AFC U19 Championship.
A total of 44 participating Member Associations (MAs) were divided into 10 centralised qualifying groups, six of which will feature four teams, while four groups will include five sides. The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will join Uzbekistan in the Finals.
