Singapore narrowly missed out on the 2020 tournament despite its best-ever showing out of four appearances during qualifying. Singapore claimed a 3-1 victory over hosts Mongolia and 1-1 draws with both Hong Kong and DPR Korea to finish second in the group stage. DPR Korea finished top of the group to progress to the finals in Thailand, where Korea Republic defeated Saudi Arabia to claim the crown.
Hosts Uzbekistan have already received direct qualification into the Finals but will also participate in the qualifiers. Their match results will not be taken into account when calculating the group ranking and best-positioned teams among all groups.
