Singapore To Participate In AFF U16 Championship
SINGAPORE, 7 JULY 2016: The Football Association of Singapore is pleased to announce that the Under-16 National Team will be participating in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-16 Championship 2016, taking place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 10-23 July 2016.
Singapore has been grouped with Myanmar, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam in Group A. The first match will be against Philippines on Sunday 10 July, with the final group-stage match to be played on 18 July against Vietnam.
“We prepared well for the AFF Under-16 Championships by going on a training tour to Thailand last month, but the tournament itself will be tougher. We will face difficult teams in our group, but I am certain that playing against top opponents like these will only make the boys stronger. Gaining this sort of international exposure is invaluable, and it will definitely aid in their long-term development. We are looking forward to the matches,” said Nazri Nasir, Head Coach, Under-16 National Team.
