SINGAPORE TO PARTICIPATE IN QUALIFIERS FOR AFC U16 WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

SINGAPORE, 19 AUGUST 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to confirm that Singapore will participate in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 Women’s Championship 2017 qualifiers. The qualifiers will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 27 August – 5 September 2016. Singapore has been drawn in Group C with Iran, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan.

The 21-strong squad, which has an average age of 14, will be led by Chen Caiying, who is also the Head Coach of the senior Women’s National Team.

“We have been drawn in a very tough group; the other teams in Group C are some of the best in Asia. It will not be easy for us; nevertheless, we will work hard and aim to do our best in every match. Tournaments like this are essential to give our girls more international exposure, and I would like to thank FAS for sending the team to gain this invaluable experience, as well as all stakeholders – including the schools and parents ‚Äì for making this possible,” said Coach Chen.

Please see below for the Group Stage fixtures for Singapore.
