Singapore to participate in UEFA International Under-15 Girls Tournament

SINGAPORE, 6 DECEMBER 2018 – The Under-15 Women’s National Team will take part in the UEFA U-15 Youth International Tournament 2018, which commences this weekend in Thailand.
The team will be led by Head Coach Angeline Chua, who has named 18 players in the squad that will travel to Buriram. It is Chua’s maiden assignment since taking charge of the team, and also the team’s first international experience.
Singapore will play hosts Thailand in their opening match on Sunday, 9 December before facing Malta and then Mongolia in their final match. All the matches will be played at Chang Arena.
Chua believes that the tournament will provide the team with invaluable experience, saying: “With this being the first international tournament for the team, our primary aim will be to enhance the players’ understanding of basic football principles as a team. We have a diverse mix of players in this team, some from the FAS Under-12 Development Girls squad, while a bulk of the team, including Ariesa, Nadia and Yasmine, is from the Under-14 and Under-16 National Teams. The diversity might be a challenge as the girls will have to work as a team in this tournament, but we will also have the slightly more experienced players guiding the upcoming young players and honing their leadership skills.”
The tournament, which also has a men’s competition for the U-15 teams of Thailand, Bangladesh, Maldives and Cyprus, is part of the UEFA Assist Mini-Tournament Project, an initiative by the European football governing body to contribute to football development in an international capacity.
The games will be streamed LIVE on the Football Association of Thailand’s mycujoo platform.
