Singapore U23s To Travel To Turkey For Training Camp
SINGAPORE, 15 JANUARY 2015: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that the Under-23 National Team (U23 NT) will be travelling to Antalya, Turkey, for a training camp from 19 January to 4 February 2015.
Over the course of the next two weeks, the U23 NT will play matches against tough opponents such as the Under-23 teams of Russia’s Spartak Moscow and the German Bundesliga’s Hamburger SV.
“This training camp will be an excellent opportunity for the team to bond, both on and off the pitch. The boys will train together, eat together and sleep together. They will get to play against top-class opposition, which will aid in their long-term development. Most importantly, this will be very helpful as part of our preparations for this year’s SEA Games on home soil,” said Aide Iskandar, Head Coach of the Under-23 National Team.
Twenty-two year-old defender Al-Qaasimy Rahman agrees.
“This will be the second year I am going to Turkey for a training camp; I went last January and we all benefited tremendously from the experience. We are grateful to the FAS for the opportunity to train and play overseas against strong teams, and hope to repay the faith shown in us,” said Al-Qaasimy.
