Singapore Under-22s to head for final training camp ahead of SEA Games
SINGAPORE, 25 OCTOBER 2019 – Ahead of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games next month, Singapore Under-22 National Team Head Coach Fandi Ahmad has named a 23-man squad for a training camp in Japan from 25 October to 7 November.
Singapore has been drawn in Group B alongside Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and Brunei for the tournament, where the top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
Departing for Japan today, the team will play friendlies against Takushoku University and Nihon Taiiku University which are in the second division of the Kanto University Football League.
Coach Fandi said: “This training camp is crucial in our preparations for the SEA Games. We have limited opportunities to train together as a full squad hence it is important for the players to be completely focused and use this camp to show us that they have what it takes to represent Singapore.
“We want to give every player who is travelling for this training camp a fair chance to express themselves on the field and fight for a place in the SEA Games squad.”
