Match date changed to Friday 16 June 2023 with kickoff timing unchanged

SINGAPORE 14 JUNE 2023 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) informs that the FIFA Men’s A International Friendly fixture between Singapore and Papua New Guinea will be postponed to Friday, 16 June 2023 with the kickoff time remaining unchanged at 7.30pm (Singapore time).

Originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15 June 2023, the match fixture needed to be postponed as Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) notified the FAS today (14 June) that they were unable to travel to Singapore as planned. The players and team officials were due to arrive on Tuesday, 13 June but were informed by their national airline carrier, Air Niugini, that their flight had been cancelled. As Air Niugini does not have daily flights to Singapore, efforts were made to get the squad on alternate flights, however this ultimately was not possible. PNGFA have since confirmed that they will arrive in Singapore late Thursday evening, 15 June 2023 which necessitated in the decision to reschedule the game to Friday.

Both the President and Acting General Secretary of PNGFA have reached out to the FAS to express their regret and apologized to both the FAS and the Singapore football fans here for the unfortunate turn of events. They have also indicated their immense gratitude to the FAS for agreeing to reschedule the fixture on very short notice and are eager to see both teams take to the pitch on Friday.

Utilisation of match day tickets

Fans who have purchased tickets to the game may use the same ticket for entry on Friday. For fans who are unable to attend the game on Friday, SISTIC will send a follow-up email to patrons that are not able to attend the match on Saturday 17 June 3pm onwards with the refund details. For more information on the refund process, fans may also call SISTIC’s hotline at 6348-5555 during the operating hours of 10am – 8pm (Mondays to Saturdays) and 12pm – 8pm (Sundays and Public holidays).

The FAS expresses its sincere regret to fans for any inconvenience caused as a result of this postponement. While every effort was made by both associations to ensure the original fixture would proceed as scheduled, the circumstances of limited flight availabilities from PNG inevitably dictated the need for the game to be rescheduled.
