Sweet Silver for Women’s National Team in Arafura Games

SINGAPORE, 3 MAY 2019 – Our Women’s National Team finished second in the Arafura Games 2019 to wrap up their outing in Darwin, Australia with three wins, one draw and two losses.
Led by Head Coach Melisa Ye, the team claimed 8-0 and 7-0 wins in the first two games against Timorese Fugees and NT Yapas respectively. Despite losing their next game against Darwin Invitational, the Lionesses drew 0-0 in their last preliminary round match against the Koalas to seal a spot in the semi-finals.
In their second meeting in three days, the team beat Darwin Invitational 1-0 this time in the semi-finals to move on to the finals held on the same day. The Lionesses eventually settled for second spot as the Koalas claimed a 3-0 victory.
The team will return to Singapore tomorrow.
