Tampines Rovers FC To Take On Selangor At The National Stadium
SINGAPORE, 26 APRIL 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that S.League club Tampines Rovers FC will be hosting Selangor FA for their final Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2016 Group E fixture at the 55,000-seater National Stadium. Originally scheduled to be played at the 5,500-seater Jalan Besar Stadium, the fixture has been relocated following approval from the AFC. Tickets for home fans, priced from just $4 onwards, will go on sale from 12.00pm on Wednesday 27 April. Away fans are advised to contact Selangor FA for purchase of tickets.
This will be the first competitive fixture for an S.League club at the National Stadium since it was reopened in 2014. The FAS is pleased to work with several stakeholders, including the Singapore Sports Hub, to shift the location of this match, in order to allow more fans to witness one of Singapore’s top teams take on Malaysia’s most successful club.
Tampines Rovers FC Chairman Mr Krishna Ramachandra is thrilled to shift the match to the iconic National Stadium. He said: “We want to do this for Singapore football and I want to thank the Football Association of Singapore, AFC, Singapore Sports Hub and Sport Singapore for making this possible. I hope fans can come to support us representing the country against Malaysia’s most successful club in a unique club Causeway challenge.”
Mr Lim Chin, CEO, S.League, is delighted to help Tampines Rovers to organise this historic event. He added: “It is great news for the S.League to have our local club Tampines Rovers FC playing at the National Stadium for the first time. Playing against a great side like Selangor almost mirrors a Singapore vs Malaysia football match, so I hope all Singapore football fans will turn up for this historic match and support Tampines Rovers against Selangor FA in the AFC Cup tournament.”

The match will bring added colour and vibrancy to our buzzing sporting calendar, which has had a great start this year and which we are committed to growing. Come match day, we will truly be looking forward to greeting Singaporean fans and our patrons from across the Causeway to witness history in the making, and having the Kallang Roar once more at the National Stadium.”
