SINGAPORE, 1 JULY 2024 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shamir Osman as their Chief of Marketing & Communications. Shamir has 18 years of experience in media and communications and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the organisation.

Shamir’s previous role was at Lion City Sailors Football Club, where he set up and headed the club’s communications and content department and led a team to lay the foundation for Sailors’ fan and stakeholder engagement. Prior to the Sailors, Shamir served as an account director for a regional public relations consultancy and was also a leading football journalist with various media organisations.

In his new role at the FAS, Shamir will lead the communications and marketing teams, providing strategic communications guidance to the team and overseeing all stakeholder engagement.

Said Shamir: “Football has always been in my blood, and I have been a supporter as well as a critic of local football. Whether in the newsrooms or embedded in the local football fraternity, what drove me was the desire for our football ecosystem to be further enhanced. This role gives me the chance to contribute to that effort and I am looking forward to the challenge.”

Yazeen Buhari, General Secretary of FAS, added: “The FAS has worked with Shamir in various capacities over the years. He’s always shown an ability to listen to the ground, but at the same time, also understood the macro view and the challenges football faces in Singapore. I look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our association.”

Shamir will officially join the FAS on 15 July 2024.
