SINGAPORE, 5 SEPTEMBER 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that Head Coach of the Under-14 and Under-19 Women’s National Teams Yeong Sheau Shyan will be attending the German Football Association’s (DFB) International Coaching Course at the Sportschule Hennef, from 5-23 September 2016.

“It was an honour for us to be one of only two Member Associations selected by the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) to nominate a participant. We decided to put Sheau Shyan’s name forward as part of our ongoing efforts to improve our coaches’ abilities. We are confident that this will help her grow as a coach, and that she will also help to bring more knowledge back to Singapore and share it with our players and other coaches,” said Julie Teo, General Manager, Grassroots and Women’s Football.

A holder of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) ‘A’ license, Ms Yeong is one of the highest-qualified female coaches in Singapore. She started Singapore’s first independent women’s football team, Arion Football Academy, and was a former Singapore international, having featured in regional competitions including the SEA Games, Olympic Qualifiers and AFF Championships.

“I’m confident that I will learn a lot from this course, especially since it is being conducted by the DFB – one of the best footballing nations in the world. I will be working hard during the course, and hope this will help me become a better coach to guide the players under my charge,” said Coach Yeong.
