Under-16 Women’s National Team To Have Training Camp In Osaka
SINGAPORE, 18 JUNE 2016: The Football Association of Singapore is pleased to announce that the Under-16 Women’s National Team will be travelling to Osaka, Japan from 18-23 June for a training camp as part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-16 Women’s Championship 2017 Qualification Round in August.
The training camp will be held at the J-Green Sakai, and the team will be playing three friendly matches in three days against women’s football clubs in Japan such as Vispo Sayama and Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies.
The 20-strong squad, with an average age of just 13.95 years, will be led by Ms Chen Cai Ying, who is also the head coach for the senior Women’s National Team.
“This training tour is part of our long-term plan to develop our promising youth players by giving them international exposure. We have deliberately chosen a very young team because we have an eye on next year’s AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, when most of them will be 14 or 15. Most of them still qualify for our Under-14 team, so I’m certain they will benefit from this experience,” said Ms Chen.
