Under-18 National Team To Play Friendly Against World Cup-bound New Caledonia U17s

SINGAPORE, 20 SEPTEMBER 2017: The Football Association of Singapore today announced that the Under-18 National Team will be playing a friendly match against the New Caledonia Under-17 National Team during the latter’s stopover in Singapore en route to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup India 2017. The match will kick off on 2 October 2017 at Bishan Stadium at 7.00pm and admission is complimentary.

The Under-18 National Team is preparing for the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Championship qualification in November 2017. Singapore has been drawn in Group I and will face Japan, Thailand, and Mongolia.

Head Coach of the Under-18 National Team Christophe Chaintreuil said: “The New Caledonia U17s have qualified for the FIFA U17 World Cup, so they will definitely be tough opposition. This friendly will be good for our U18 boys’ international match exposure as we build up towards the AFC U19 Championship qualification in November. We look forward to a good match against New Caledonia.”
