Under-22 National Team To Go For Training Camp In Doha
SINGAPORE, 11 JUNE 2017: In preparations for July’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Championship qualifiers and August‚Äôs Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Under-22 National Team will be travelling to Doha, Qatar for a training camp.
The team will play two games against their Qatar counterparts.
Head Coach of Under-22 National Team Richard Tardy said: “Playing strong teams like Qatar will allow us to better gauge our abilities in the lead-up to our important tournaments in the coming months – in fact, they reached the semi-finals of the AFC Under-23 Championships last year. If not for conceding late goals to South Korea in the semi-final and Iraq in the third placing match, they would have been one of the three Asian teams in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.
“Having said that, we do have players like Irfan Fandi and Hami Syahin who have been training with the National Team – I am sure that they will be able to add valuable experience to the squad, and that our boys will do their best to hold their own against such tough opponents.”
