SINGAPORE, 5 JULY 2017: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announced that following a rigorous recruitment process, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Elite coaching instructor and former National Team coach Vincent Subramaniam has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Garena Young Lions (GYL) until the end of the 2017 Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League season. Coach Vincent will also serve as Assistant Coach of the Under-22 National Team for the upcoming 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur.

“When I learned about the opportunity to help coach the GYL for the rest of the season, and also assist Richard Tardy for the SEA Games, I knew I had to apply for the role. While I have been very happy as an AFC Elite coaching instructor the past few years, being able to serve my country and help in the development of the GYL players was something close to my heart,” said Coach Vincent.

Head Coach, National Youth Teams Richard Tardy was similarly pleased with the appointment of Coach Vincent.

“I am familiar with Vincent, because he has conducted coaching courses in Singapore – I am very happy to have somebody like Vincent, with his wealth of experience across Asia, helping me as the Under-22 National Team enters the final phase of preparations for the AFC U23 Championship 2018 qualifiers and SEA Games. I am sure he will continue the same philosophy with the GYL that we have been applying, to help the young players progress and hopefully make it to the National Team eventually,” said Coach Richard.

Coach Vincent will take his first Garena Young Lions training session tomorrow. The team’s next match will be in September, after the 2017 SEA Games.
