SINGAPORE, 29 OCTOBER 2017: Warriors FC’s Prime League team claimed the Singapore Pools FA Cup 2017 title with a 2-1 victory over Yishun Sentek Mariners FC at tonight’s final at Jalan Besar Stadium in front of 2,075 fans. First-half strikes from Warriors FC’s Clay Matthew Silvas and Daniel Shafiq rendered Zulkiffli Hasssim’s goal inconsequential.

It is Warriors FC’s fourth time winning the championship, making them the most successful club in the Cup’s history. The FA Cup is contested by Prime League and NFL clubs and this year, Prime League and NFL teams were drawn to play against each other from the beginning of the tournament for the first time.

The prizes were presented by Guest of Honour Mr Tay Boon Khai, Senior Director, Compliance, Community & Communications, Singapore Pools and Football Association of Singapore President Mr Lim Kia Tong.

Mr Lim Kia Tong said: “Both teams gave a very entertaining display of football in the final of the Singapore Pools FA Cup, but there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Warriors FC for lifting the FA Cup. It is encouraging to see both NFL and Prime League sides performing well in the tournament. By fostering a higher level of competition in the Cup, the players will be exposed to more challenges which we believe will in turn raise the standard of Singapore football. Our thanks to Singapore Pools once more for their support, without which the successful organisation of the tournament would not be possible.”

Mr Tay Boon Khai said: “As a long-standing Partner in Sports, Singapore Pools is committed to supporting the local sports scene, and we hope to contribute to the success of the nation’s athletes.”

The results of the Singapore Pools FA Cup 2017 Final are as follows:

Yishun Sentek Mariners FC [1]
(Zulkiffli Hassim 63′)

Warriors FC (Prime League) [2]
(Clay Mathew Silvas 18′, Daniel Shafiq 45′)
