Warriors FC romp to third consecutive Women’s Challenge Cup

SINGAPORE, 14 OCTOBER 2018 – Warriors FC successfully defended their Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Women’s Challenge Cup title for the second consecutive time today, after defeating Tanjong Pagar United FC 6-0 in the final at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

 

Earlier in the day, Woodlands Wellington FC ran out 5-0 winners over Winchester Isla FC to claim the second runners-up trophy, a repeat of last year’s third place play-off where the Rams prevailed 6-0.

 

FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong, accompanied by FAS General Secretary Mr Yazeen Buhari, presented the medals to the top three teams, as well as the FAS Women’s Challenge Cup trophy to the champions Warriors FC.

 

Mr Lim said: “Congratulations to Warriors FC for successfully defending their title against Tanjong Pagar United, both are deserving finalists. Well done to Woodlands Wellington and Winchester Isla FC for making it this far in the competition as well. It is a delight to see the standard of women’s football in Singapore rise year on year, and we will continue in our efforts to encourage more girls to pick up the Beautiful Game.”
