WHITE SWANS SCORE HAT-TRICK OF RHB SINGAPORE CUP TITLES
SINGAPORE, 26 NOVEMBER 2017: Albirex Niigata FC (S) clinched the coveted RHB Singapore Cup 2017 last night after defeating Global Cebu FC 3-1 on penalties in front of 3,028 fans. The match ended 2-2 after extra-time, forcing the tie to be decided by kicks from the penalty mark. Global Cebu FC came from behind twice in the 120 minutes to level matters but Yosuke Nozawa pulled off the match-deciding save during the penalties to defend the championship for Albirex Niigata FC (S).
The win means that the White Swans have now won the RHB Singapore Cup for three consecutive years. They have also secured the domestic quadruple for the second year running, having earlier defended the Great Eastern Community Shield, The New Paper League Cup and the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League title.
The Final was graced by Guest of Honour Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mayor, South East CDC. YBhg Tan Sri Azlan Zainol, Chairman, RHB Banking Group; Mr Mike Chan, Chief Executive Officer and Country Head, RHB Singapore; Mr. Luke Diep, Head, Brand Marketing & Communications, RHB Singapore; and Football Association of Singapore (FAS) President Mr Lim Kia Tong as well as Deputy President Mr Bernard Tan were also present.
FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong said: “Congratulations to Albirex Niigata FC (S) for securing the RHB Singapore Cup for the third consecutive time and for clinching the quadruple once more. The Singapore Cup Final marks the end of the 2017 season and it has been a thrilling ride with our fans throughout this year. Our thanks to RHB and the fans for their staunch support towards Singapore football. We look forward to an even more exciting season in 2018.”

The top three teams of the Prime League tournament were awarded their medals before the Final kicked off. Home United FC retained the title, while Hougang United FC and Geylang International FC finished as first and second runners-up respectively.
The Third Place Play-off match between Home United FC and Hougang United FC, which was supposed to kick off at 5pm, was postponed to 26 November 2017 due to inclement weather. The match will kick off at 8pm at Jalan Besar Stadium.
