WIDE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES LINED UP FOR AFC GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL DAY 2018
SINGAPORE, 10 MAY 2018: The annual Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Grassroots Football Day will be celebrated in Singapore from 11 – 20 May 2018. Apart from the FIFA “Live Your Goals” (LYG) Festival, clubs playing their Singapore Premier League (SPL) matches that weekend will also be organising pre-match activities to engage with the grassroots.
The quarterly FIFA LYG Festival will be held at Queensway Secondary and Bowen Secondary, on 12 and 13 May 2018 respectively. The festivals, which feature small-sided games for girls aged six to 15, are free-of-charge and open to public. Interested participants may register on-site or write in to [email protected]. Participants should come in sports attire and football boots or running/turf shoes.
Other activities planned include a five-a-side mini-tournament for boys aged 10 and 11 years old from East Zone Centres of Excellence at Parkview Primary School on 11 May, and a football festival at Serangoon Stadium which comprises Mixed Under-8s, Under-10, and Under-12 categories on 12 May. A Football Association of Singapore Grassroots Coaching Course will also be conducted from 5 – 6 and 12 – 13 May to expand the base of grassroots football coaches.
