Yeo’s Launches First H-Two-O Ultimate Junior Football Fiesta

SINGAPORE, 21 MAY 2016: Following the success of the H-TWO-O Ultimate Challenge Cup previously held in March, YEO’S continued their support for youth and grassroots football, this time, through the inaugural H-TWO-O Ultimate Junior Football Fiesta, targeted to promote football to youths.

A total of 1,100 children today took part in the first day of the H-TWO-O Ultimate Junior Football Fiesta at ITE College Central. The format of the fiesta is one-of-a-kind, as there is no champion in any of the three age group categories (Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12). Teams will instead receive participation medals and certificates (Gold, Silver or Bronze) corresponding to their results.

Each team played five matches with three points awarded for a win, two points for a draw and one point for a loss. They were matched randomly for the first match, with subsequent matches played between teams with the same number of points to provide more balanced games and thus a more enjoyable experience for participants.

Mr Lim Chin, CEO, S.League said: “YEO’S has always been a big supporter of Singapore football and its expanded involvement in youth and grassroots football this year have provided more playing experience and opportunities for these young footballers to showcase their talents. This YEO’S initiative will help us reach out to even more youth as part of our FAS Youth Development strategy.”

Ms May Ngiam, 1st Vice President of YHS (Singapore) Pte Ltd, said ‚ÄúH-TWO-O is very delighted to see such a great turnout of families coming together to cheer on their children (and grandchildren) at this Fiesta. Rather than focusing on a game competition format, the Fiesta‚Äôs objective is to instil football interest and participation for kids as young as 5 years old.  Such platforms go beyond just sharpening of football skills; it allows these children to experience teamwork and sportsmanship outside of their school‚Äôs sports day or club activities. We hope this community spirit will translate to more interest in live local football matches which in turn will drive more support towards our sportsmen and instil community bonding.‚Äù

The next segment of the Fiesta “H-TWO-O Ultimate Junior League 2016” continues next Saturday 28 May 2016, with concurrent Fiestas being held at Guangyang Secondary School and Bedok South Secondary School. This tournament targets Primary School students aged 12 years old and below. A total of 32 teams from various schools will be participating in the tournament at both venues. The tournament will follow a knock-out format for the Premier and Champions pool. The top four teams from each pool will be presented with a winner’s medal, while the non-placed teams will receive participation medals.
