Young Women, Bishan Arsenal book semis spot
FAS Young Women and Bishan Arsenal booked their places of the Women’s Challenge Cup with handsome wins over United World College and Nanyang Technological University respectively in Week Five.
A hattrick from Luo Jianzhen (33th, 46th and 81st minutes) and Chen Yue Gui’s double (40th and 89th minutes) gave the Young Women a 5-0 win over UWC.
Even more rampant were Bishan Arsenal as they hammered NTU 6-0. First-half goals from Taye Shi Ya (36th minute) and Nurafny Saman (41st minute) gave Bishan a 2-0 lead at the break, before Huraizah Ismail (62nd minute and 87th minutes), Sandra Kesslar (64th minute) and Charmaine Pelaez (66th minute) completed the rout.
In another game, Negri Sembilan defeated Sporting Westlake 3-1. Zaffeka Zakaria netted two goals for the Malaysian side (13th and 26th minutes), before Mishairati Mahadi pulled one back for Sporting three minutes from the break.
But Malini Nordin netted for the Malaysians in the 80th minute to deny any hopes of a Sporting comeback.
